Chinatown Food Centre
Singapore
Chinatown Food Centre also known as Chinatown Complex offers one of the most authentic experience on the entire island. Boasting nearly 700 stalls, the centre is known for it's wide range of local dishes some of which are hard to find anywhere else.
Due to a strong Chinese influence you will find favourite dishes such as minced meat noodle and Yong Tau Fu, a delicious soup where you grab a bowl and choose food items such as fish balls, crab sticks, ladies fingers and all kinds of stuffed fritters from a buffet-style stall. The food is then cut into bit-sized pieces and hot soup, with either rice or egg noodles, is added. At some stalls you can choose to replace the clear coup with a delicious spicy curry soup also known as laksa gravy.
There are also many shops around the area so make sure you have some time on hand to explore the area well.
Below is a list of the most popular stalls at this hawker center with their unit number. You might encounter waiting times for up to 30 minutes during lunch and dinner times, as Singaporeans don't mind queuing for their favourite food. Check out the locally developed smart phone app TickTok giving you information about accurate waiting times at these food stalls.
