Home to one of the world's largest public collection of modern and a contemporary Southeast Asian collection of artwork, SAM is simply a must-see. Throughout the most strategic international alliances and cultural institutions, SAM makes visual arts education, exchange and research and development possible within the region. The extension building, 8Q, opened in August 2008 to expand on the museums contemporary art space in order to display an interactive and community-focused program. Locals and travelers alike visit SAM to experience diverse contemporary art collection from installation, film and video, painting and sculpting to performance and sound art.
