Since 1996, the Singapore Art Museum (SAM) mission has been to preserve art history and present contemporary art practices of Singapore and Southeast Asia.
Home to one of the world's largest public collection of modern and a contemporary Southeast Asian collection of artwork, SAM is simply a must-see. In a 19th Century mission school building this particular museum collaborates with international museums to ensure presentations are cutting edge art expressions.
Throughout the most strategic international alliances and cultural institutions, SAM makes visual arts education, exchange and research and development possible within the region. The extension building, 8Q, opened in August 2008 to expand on the museums contemporary art space in order to display an interactive and community-focused program. Locals and travelers alike visit SAM to experience diverse contemporary art collection from installation, film and video, painting and sculpting to performance and sound art.
Admission Tickets: Adults: S$10; Foreign Students and senior citizens aged 60 and above: S$5. Free for all Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents all year round to the permanent galleries and some selected special exhibitions.
