Sultan Mosque

The prominent Sultan Mosque in the Kampong Glam district examples culture, religion and the diversity of modern Muslims in Singapore. Able to accommodate 5,000 people for mass prayer in the Mosque prayer hall, the building dates back to 1824.
Please note that you are allowed to enter the mosque only if dressed appropriately, meaning long trousers and long sleeve top, plus the obligatory head cover for women. Women can only enter some parts of the mosque but not the main prayer room.
The area around the Sultan Mosque is known for it's colorful shophouses, small cafes and restaurants with terraces and funky souvenir shops.
