天福宮はシンガポールで最も古い福建寺のひとつであり、かつては中国移民によって訪れられ、海の女神である「妈祖」に安全な航海を願いました。 中華街の中心地、釘を使用せずに組み立てられたこの優れた建物は、伝統的な中国の建築様式を取り入れて建てられています。タイル、木材、石材で作られ、精巧な彫刻やディテールを持っています。
天福宮はシンガポール福建会館によって管理されています。 この寺院は1842年に完成し、以来何度かの修復が行われており、そのうちのひとつは、UNESCOアジア太平洋地域文化遺産保存建築賞を含む4つの建築賞を受賞しています。
