Description
Meet in the heart of Singapore's Civic District. Before you begin, get a quick introduction to Singapore and what you'll be exploring over the next 4 km. Then, set off on your brisk walk. Your first major destination is the Merlion, one of Singapore's most recognizable symbols. Take in the classic Marina Bay views while discovering the story behind the Merlion and how dramatically this part of Singapore has changed. Continue briskly towards Raffles Place, the heart of Singapore's financial district. Look up at the skyscrapers before entering a very different landscape along Boat Quay. Follow part of the Singapore River and talk about why this waterway was so important to Singapore's development as a trading port. Leave the dense city behind and head up into Fort Canning Park. The hill provides a natural fitness challenge, but there's a reason you're climbing it. Fort Canning takes the story further back. Long before Marina Bay Sands, the skyscrapers of Raffles Place, or even British colonial Singapore, this hill was associated with the rulers of early Singapore. As you walk through the park, uncover different layers of Singapore's history, including early Singapore and its rulers, archaeological discoveries, and Singapore's transformation across centuries. Descend towards Dhoby Ghaut, completing approximately 4 km.Includes
