In 2004 the Singapore Government chose the Civic District to set up The School Of The Arts (SOTA), Singapore's first independent pre-tertiary arts school to nurture youths talented in the arts, aged 13-18.
Creating a vibrant environment where the disciplines of Dance, Music, Theatre and Visual Arts can be deeply explored, the SOTA offers its students some professional events venues designed with precise accoustic and comprehensive audio-visual infrastructures.
